Video: Ibn Inglor, “Cold Storm”

Chicago’s Ibn Inglor releases a video for “Cold Storm,” a highlight off his thrashing, DIY-Yeezus “New Wave” tape.

January 14, 2014

Chicago South Sider Ibn Inglor quietly dropped one of the city's most impressive mixtapes of 2013 with last September's New Wave, a howling, thrashing depiction of urban isolation. He's finally released a video, directed by Andre Muir, for tape highlight "Cold Storm," in which Inglor seems to be crawling out of his own skin. The track—produced by Inglor himself with his friend Brendan Mahone, under the name Mhone Glor—perfectly encapsulates the tape's sense of both hating the city you're from, yet being wholly and inextricably part of it; its growling repetition of riding on a bike in a cold storm feels like the essence of mid-winter Chicago angst. Inglor's New Wave 2 tape is expected soon.
