Stream: Doe B f. T.I., “Why”

To honor the memory of Doe B, who was tragically murdered just before the new year, T.I. post-humously releases the world-weary “Why.”

January 15, 2014

The loss of Doe B—one of Montgomery, Alabama's most promising young rappers who was shot and killed in December, at age 22—has been palpable in the weeks following his death, from innumerable tributes to T.I.'s heartfelt eulogy. On "Why," the latest in a stream of previously unreleased recordings, T.I. honors his Hustle Gang signee and friend, bittersweetly reassuring him, For whatever it's worth, you were bossed up at the funeral. Doe B sounds particularly world-weary, mourning his own lost loved ones and hauntingly asking, Lord, when I die, give me bulletproof wings. "Why" is available now on iTunes, and will be featured on Doe B's forthcoming, posthumous album.
