The Best of the Grammys Red Carpet

Unlike its silver screen counterparts, the Grammy awards show is all about standing out and starting conversation. That means that usually its attendees take greater risks with their wardrobes, though with the exception of Pharrell's hat and Madonna's suit, this was a fairly tame red carpet. Here, we take a look at last night’s outfits and hand out superlatives for the best looks in their fields.

Best #thiscouldbeusbutyouplaying: Paris Hilton & Birdman

Best new puritan: Madonna

Person we are happiest to see: Beyoncé

Best outfit we actually also wore when we were 17 and angsty: Lorde

Best boring but actually pretty good: Taylor Swift

Best Joker and The Penguin: Macklemore and Ryan Lewis

The Golden Child Award: Ciara

Best wins-anyway because he looks so good: Kendrick Lamar
