Dream Rap Is a Thing: GoldLink Teams with Danish Producers for “One Step Back”

Earlier today I speculated, but now I’m pretty sure: dream rap is a thing—or at least that’s what I’m calling it. Here we’ve got another gem in this recently fertile style of pairing: newcomer American rapper (DMV upstart GoldLink, on just his sixth public track) linking with European producers with a penchant for sensitive, electronic beats with short kicks (Denmark’s Galimatias and Joppe) to make a song that feels like floating and sipping lemon tea. This one-off collaboration “One Step Back” comes via Soulection, the LA label who’ve been a haven for songs in this general sphere. GoldLink’s debut EP, The God Complex, is coming early spring (though this track won’t be on there).

love the beat, not the lyrics. up for an instrumental

Eh, was hoping this would be a little more like P.M. Dawn. Someone needs to bring that sound back. Introspective, soft-spoken, subtle rap.
