Swedish Rapper Yung Lean Talks Gold, Phones in “Motorola”

FADER PREMIERE

Stockholm-based rapper and Sad Boys crew leader Yung Lean isn't doing much in this DJ Ferrari-directed video for "Motorola." He's hanging out among the outdoor columns and neo-classical sculptures of the Millesgården, the historically landmarked home of the early 20th century artist Carl Milles, waving his arms for the camera as he boasts about the various hip-hop accessories he has on his person (gold on my wrist, phone in my pocket). The production, fittingly, feels like what would happen if you rallied together a bunch of your 17-year-old friends to shoot a home-made music video, but the hand-held, tossed-off quality carries its own special magnetism, enhanced in part by White Armor's pretty monolithic sounding, sub-friendly beat. Yung Lean and Sad Boys embark on their "White Marble" European tour on March 12th. Dates below.
