After wrapping up a world tour in support of their 2012 album Centipede Hz, Animal Collective's members are taking some time to focus on their own music. Avey Tare's new project Slasher Flicks is readying their debut LP Enter the Slasher House and, likewise, Panda Bear has a solo album in the works. In an interview with Under the Radar, Panda Bear aka Noah Lennox revealed that he'll be following up his 2011 Tomboy EP with a full-length tentatively titled Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper. Sonic Boom, who worked on Tomboy, will handle production again and Lennox also said that the album is inspired by hip-hop producer 9th Wonder and “meant as a celebration of the fact that new growth sometimes requires death.” Look for its release later this year via Domino.
