Save for Björk and Elliott Smith, the Academy Awards' live musical performances tend to lean toward stodgy, traditional pop. But this year, the Oscar-nominated songs feature some exciting names, all of whom will perform live on the broadcast, which kicks off tomorrow night at 7 p.m. EST. Already announced as performers were Best Original Song nominees Pharrell Williams ("Happy," from Despicable Me 2), U2 ("Ordinary Love," from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom), and Karen O ("The Moon Song" from Spike Jonze's critically acclaimed Her). Now, according to the AP News, Vampire Weekend's frontman Ezra Koenig will join Karen O on the broadcast. Koenig, who doesn't appear in the film version of "The Moon Song," recently recorded a piano-laden studio version of the track with Karen O that was released during Oscar voting. Listen to their duet below and revisit FADER's cover story on Vampire Weekend.
