Video: Flower Orgy, “Oh, Julian...”

Flower Orgy share a crudely-animated selfie-video for the dementedly catchy “Oh Julian...”

FADER PREMIERE

There's an episode of Rugrats where the babies make "home movies" by scribbling with crayons, and then their colorful blobs come to life and tell little stories. Flower Orgy's new video for "Oh Julian..." is like the contemporary, iPhone-selfie version of that idea, an unrefined series of moving images that you could still sort of call a "movie." The track itself is an odd little love song, minimal and dementedly catchy; it lives inside your consciousness in the way that a ringtone or jingle sometimes can. "It's sort of about how liberating technology can be, especially to people who'll be using the new gender options on Facebook," says Flower Orgy's Nate Luce, who filmed and animated the clip himself. It's also got some hand-drawn nudity, so it could never have aired on Nickelodeon in the early-'90s. Flower Orgy's new tape, WeenieLeaks, is out March 18th, and it's streaming over at New Camp Records right now.
