Stream: THESTANDARD, “Decisions”

Spooky Black has received a fair amount of attention in some circles for his jarring look and polarizing name, but his work with under-the-radar collective THESTANDARD suggests a musicality that’s more than just image. The Saint Paul, MN-based quartet made up of Spooky, Allan Kingdom, Bobby Raps and Psymun just released “Decisions,” the curious follow-up to their debut track “Doors.” Their vocals fill the hazy track without crowding it, layering bass vocals under falsetto, allowing the beat to split the difference—their experimental sound should only continue to develop from here.
