After nearly a year of relative quiet -- and while the LA Clippers take to the court for the first time since their owner Donald Sterling was banished from the NBA for life -- The-Dream has quietly released a pertinent and powerful new song called "BLACK." A heartfelt and socially conscious anthem, it's a far cry from the sexed-up jams we've come to expect from Terius; but especially after these past few days, it's truly resonant. The accompanying video, which collages images from the civil rights movement and various protests (including footage of the Clippers warming-up last week with their shirts worn inside out), ends with this message:

Black isn't just a color. Black isn't just a race anymore. It's a feeling and a place from which one feels isolated by the world of the governing elite. Classism is the new racism. This is what black feels like.
