Listen to Travi$ Scott at His Most Classic with Big Sean On “Don’t Play”

Our FADER #89 cover story on Travi$ Scott called him “rap’s new radical” and, beyond the variety of his collaborators, he always brings an entirely new sound to each of his tracks. On “Don’t Play,” vampirish instrumentals swirl into Big Sean’s echoic auto-tuned hooks. Though Scott’s style shape-shifts, it’s here he’s his most classic and stripped down: no frills, just pure verse. “Don’t Play” opens and closes with a sample from 1975′s serene “M.O.N.E.Y.” yet quickly drops from ethereality into the dark, hard-hitting core of the track. It first premiered live at The FADER FORT at SXSW and may turn up again later this year on Travi$ Scott’s upcoming debut album Rodeo. Stream it below and read our cover story on Travi$ Scott here.
