Listen to the Plaintive Piano Echoes of Quirke’s “Acid Beth”

The latest addition to the Young Turks crew proves he can do sad love songs too.

Brand, shiny new Young Turks artist Quirke follows up his noisy vision of trance single, “Break A Mirrored Leg,” with the somewhat more subdued yet no less affecting title track from his debut EP out today. "Acid Beth" is just a teeny little thing—all of two minutes and five seconds long—but Quirke packs the emo feelings in tight. A simple refrain picked out on a distant piano makes up the core of the song, around which the fizz and echo of radio interference and reverb signals dance a lonely dance. In terms of setting out his stall, the two tracks we've been privy to so far—one that goes for the body, the other that goes for the heart, neither that do so with any obvious moves—are strong evidence of a significant new talent.
