Listen to a Pair of Eddie Rabbitt Covers by Austin’s Pure X

The Austin rockers share two slow-burning covers of Rabbitt’s twangy ‘70s pop.

I haven't stopped listening to Angel, the dangerously replayable third full-length from Pure X, but I'll still welcome new material with open arms, even if it isn't original. The Austin crew, who have recorded memorable cover songs before (like this swampy take on "Pressure Drop"), just shared two twangy pop songs originally written by singer/songwriter Eddie Rabbitt in the late '70s: "Sweet Janine" and "I Don't Want To Make Love (With Anyone Else But You)." The interpretations are true blue Pure X: head-buzzing, heart-tugging southern lullabies that are as balmy and romantic as a kiss that tastes like sunscreen.
