Watch New NYC Producer Cubby’s Vaguely Unsettling Video

Granular vocals and tumbleweed sonics make for an eerily enticing video.

While NYC producer Cubby's debut song "Cold" was somewhat of a slow-burn ballad, he does an about-turn on new track "Steady Now." Vocals are reduced to granular form in the track's intro—percussive grains of sand in the track's tumbleweed landscape—before huddling together to form a lullaby mumble. It's kinda eery but kinda enticing at the same time, much like this sparse but effective video. Actually, on a vocal tip, you should really check out Adam Harper's latest System Focus column on this very subject.
