WIFE Gets Behind Trippy Newcomer Elliott Power On “PORTEND”

London trip-hop artist sets out of the shadowers with a little help from the Tri Angle Records star.

August 09, 2014

Londoner Elliott Power has been lurking in the shadows for a couple of years now, occasionally making noise with the swampy, slithering trip-hop-meets-R&B he's put out online before retreating again into the ether. Now, most of his previous sounds have disappeared, and we're left with only this gem of a new single, "PORTEND." Featuring production from WIFE, the track bears the same threatening surge that defined the ex-metal-frontman and Tri Angle signee's debut album What's Between: just when you think it's going in for the kill, it reels back, as Power's dulcet spoken word verses and angelic choruses guide you through the minefield. Listen below, and watch the lyric video over at Power's website.
