Initially started by eleven music students at New York City's New School, Brooklyn minimalist ensemble Bing & Ruth have since shrunk to seven; the lineup now includes two clarinetists, two bassists, a cellist, a tape delay tech, and pianist/composer Daivd Moore. This fall, they'll release their comfortingly titled Tomorrow Was the Golden Age LP on Matt Werth's RVNG Intl label, which feels like the right home home for their immense, gently psychedelic soundscapes. The droning ambience they create on "The Towns We Love is Our Town," our first taste of that particular release, is sad but hopeful, like a blurred photograph in which everyone is smiling. Tomorrow Was the Golden Age is out October 14th.
