Petite Noir Premieres New Version Of “Til We Ghosts” With Yasiin Bey

...aka Mos Def.

December 16, 2014

Yannick Iluga released the original version of "Til We Ghosts" back in 2012, around the same time the Cape Town artist got a brief shout out by The GTW in our African-centric Lungu Lungu column. It was the first song he wrote and released under his Petite Noir alias, and the world's introduction to his smudged post-R&B aesthetic. For this new spin on it, Yasiin Bey—aka Mos Def—contributes some wiry vocals. "Yasiin had been spending a lot of time in Cape Town, and it was a privilege to meet him," Iluga told FADER over email. "He found this song really exciting, so we got him on it and…it's pretty special. Since then, we've spent a lot of time together and I've learnt a lot from him." Petite Noir's new five-track EP, The King Of Anxiety, drops January 19th.
