In the spoken intro to their video for "My Melody," Norwegian duo Nico & Vinz make a gentle but crucial statement: "People live full lives with AIDS, but it doesn't define them." With this Saturday being National Black AIDS Awareness Day, it's perfectly timed to give a voice to people living with the virus. "You can either ball up and die, or you can turn around and help somebody else," says one of the AIDS survivors who share their stories over the contemplative, intertwining rhythms of "My Melody" from Nico & Vinz's 2014 album, Black Star Elephant. Considering that the duo was behind our one of our best songs of 2014, the strength with which their art carries their message makes total sense. "'My Melody' is about the stigma and ignorance surrounding HIV/AIDS," Nico & Vinz told The FADER. "The video reflects upon the subject and it was important to us to have real people in the video with the virus to tell about their experiences." Watch above.
