Remy Banks Enlists Nasty Nigel & Left Brain For “rem.”

Remy reps for Queens on his latest single.

February 17, 2015

On his latest, Remy Banks exemplifies a New York rap conundrum: "rem." enlists an L.A. producer to craft an N.Y. sound. Left Brain handles himself well, as twinkling keys and stock snares set Banks and Nasty Nigel up for '99 rhymes and a shout & response hook. There's no shortage of New York rappers who lived through 50 Cent's first wave, but local-grown beats are harder to find—still, Remy reps for Queens, as he told FADER: "When this song was done, I sat back and said to myself, 'This is the sound that should be boomin' out of New York right now.' I feel like people forgot what it feels like to really be out here and I hope this somewhat reminds them!" Remy's new album higher drops this Spring.
