Canadian band Young Empires' new single "So Cruel" reminds me of British dance-pop aesthetes Friendly Fires, and I totally mean that as a compliment—the song is pure, smooth electro-pop bliss, sounding as much like an after-hours crash of a tune as it does something you'd throw on while getting ready to paint the town red. The song's out on Pirates Blend Records in Canada and Votiv Music outside of Canada on February 24.
