Munich-based producer Danny Scrilla has been known to make unclassifiable music that drifts along the fringes of footwork, dubstep, jungle, drum 'n' bass and more. But among the chaos, the constant that keeps him a step ahead is his ability to distill the elements of a track into something blissful, cutting right through the noise. That's a skill you can hear in "Free Flight," his new collaboration with Om Unit, boss of Cosmic Bridge (the label set to release Scrilla's latest EP, True Sight) and general jungle mastermind: capturing a sense of freefall, with the track's elements ballooning outwards as it careers towards climax, there's also a transcendent sense of calm.

Makes sense, then, that this was a pretty fluid collaboration between two artists on the same wavelength. "When I sent 'Free Flight' over to Om it wasn't much more than a skeleton consisting of chopped up breaks, some pads and stabs, but I felt like it had a lot of potential," Scrilla explained to The FADER. "After he worked his magic we pretty much wrapped the tune up in a day or two. I feel like we share a similar sonic vision; there is an understanding of what works and what doesn't without actually having to voice it." Take flight via the player below.
