When Apple released its first advertisement for Beats 1 Radio, astute listeners noticed that a new Pharrell song soundtracked the commercial. Today the singer teased a snippet of the video for “Freedom,” along with the announcement that the tune will drop in conjunction with Apple Music on June 30. (Apple Music = freedom.) The visual places Pharrell in front of a backdrop of poor workers wielding pickaxes and sledge hammers. This artist is eternally optimistic though, so the sober imagery soon gives way to budding flowers and beautiful shots of the earth from outer space. Also a brief shot of strutting models that seems imported from another video. Watch below, and read an old FADER interview with Pharrell from his Neptunes days.
