The Fight For Trans Rights Is Not Over

We just witnessed a major achievement take place in our country—gay marriage is legal (happy Pride, BTW)! But, as many have been pointing out, we still have a long way to go when it comes to equal rights for all in the eyes of the law. In his most recent weekly Sunday night segment on HBO, Last Week Tonight, John Oliver calls out government institutions for the backwards way in which transgender individuals are treated: "We are weirdly comfortable celebrating transgender people while simultaneously dehumanizing them at the DMV," the comedian says.
