Dreampop wizards Small Black have once again recruited directer Nick Bentgen—who, as lead singer Josh Kolenik told The FADER, "functions almost as a fifth band member"—to helm the video for "Boys Life," a twinkling and wistful single off their forthcoming album Best Blues.

Like the song, this video is sad, sweet, and cinematic, telling the story of a young woman finding her way through love and life—kisses and cries, aimless bike rides, and coffee shop shifts—in New York City. "With 'Boys Life,' [Bentgen's] getting at a simple reflection on being young, and the many identities we all try out on our paths to figuring out how we might be falling through the city on the way to our lives," Kolenik explained. Small Black's Best Blues is out October 16 via Jagjaguwar.
