Ann Arbor crew Pity Sex are fresh off recording their upcoming full-length, White Hot Moon, for fertile New England punk label Run For Cover. Today, we're premiering a vaguely occultish video for its first single, "What Might Soothe You?" The clip doesn't shy away from the vulnerability showcased in their stormy, shoegaze-infected rock music; lingering close-up shots of the band members as they sing about nights of yearning give the video the emotional punch the song deserves.

"I was pretty deep into religious symbolism and rituals when this came into the fold," director Joel Rakowski told FADER in an email. "I ended up figuring a pseudo-baptism and indoctrination into the 'Cult of Pity Sex' might work." The dark, moody vibes of the video might have gone in a very different direction, though. "Can't say I didn't just want to make a modern Joy Division, "Atmosphere,"" he adds. "We just couldn't make it to the beach the weekend we had to shoot." White Hot Moon is scheduled for a Spring 2016 release, but you can preorder the "What Might Soothe You?" 7-inch now.
