Rome Fortune Announces Fool’s Gold Signing, Shares “Dance”

“Things happened that made me want to be more personal in my music.”

October 20, 2015

The Atlanta MC Rome Fortune celebrated his recent signing with Fool's Gold by releasing "Dance," which Zane Lowe debuted yesterday on Beats 1 Radio. Kaytranada produced the tune, and it's one of the grooviest things Fortune has ever done, full of thick bass and sweet croons. The MC is amusingly open-minded on the track: We do not have to get nasty/ We do not have to stay classy/ We do not have to get Uber/ Or we can get Uber and talk in the back seat.

"I've had a lot of growing pains this past year since my last project's release," Fortune tells FADER via e-mail. "Things happened that made me want to be more personal in my music. I want to make tunes with more purpose going forward—even with my dance records. 'Dance' is that moment you find yourself in your favorite night spot to hang up your coat of heavy thoughts temporarily. So the message is serious but the feeling is lighthearted."
