NTS Radio is the latest entity to run into trouble with SoundCloud: Fact reported this morning that the station's account has been deleted. (Reps for NTS Radio and Soundcloud did not immediately respond to a request for comment. updated below) Earlier this year, Billboard reported that music from artists signed to Sony was disappearing from SoundCloud due to "a lack of monetization opportunities." The electronic artist Madeon's page was shut down not long after.

In a since-deleted Tweet captured by Fact, NTS posted a photo of its former SoundCloud page along with the caption, "The NTS SoundCloud dream is over...".

Update: (10/28 12:33 PM) NTS responded to our request for comment.

In a statement issued to The FADER, NTS' managing director Sean McAuliffe explained that they were not surprised about being taken off of Soundcloud.

"We saw this coming 2 years ago, that’s why we migrated to Mixcloud a while back. All of the NTS shows have been available on the NTS website using the Mixcloud widgets for almost two years now and it works really well. So to be honest, we don’t care about Sony closing our Soundcloud account, we haven’t used it for a long time anyway.

It’s a pity Soundcloud never decided to pay artist licence fees where they were due. If they spent as much time and resources on paying the artists and publishers for the music they hosted as they did on building the fantastic Soundcloud interface, they and their users would be in a happier place right now. For unpublished and user made uploads, Soundcloud is still one of the best tools out there, so let’s hope it stays that way."
