Exercise Patience With Movement 1 Of Eaves’ GORILLA

“We are the victims of incessancy.”

December 14, 2015

Eaves shared Movement 1 of his four-part GORILLA mix today. The L.A. bred, New York based producer zips through nine tracks in just 7:26. The titles have a dark bent: “Martyr,” “Cyst,” “Sacrificial,” and “Pure Hell.”

GORILLA is an exercise in patience,” Eaves explained via email to The FADER. “We are the victims of incessancy: the internet presents euphoria and tragedy in symmetry and we digest its information with reckless abandon. GORILLA’s architecture acts as an auditory framework for our human intervention into the digital environment. We’re only animals through feeling.” Just as the music responds to the internet, many of the sounds were culled from the internet. Eaves ripped a lot of audio from LiveLeak and “the dark side of Youtube,” which he refers to as “tragic news streams and EDM festivals.”

Listen below. If you’re in New York City on Friday, Purple Tape Pedigree is hosting the HYBRD01 party at Trans-Pecos in Queens, which also doubles as a celebration of the release of GORILLA. Get more info on that here, and pre-order the project.
