Update (1/20 4:12 p.m.): According to a rep for Yasiin Bey, the Instagram account that this story is based on is not run or affiliated with Yasiin in any way. "He's been very frustrated with that because so many people believe it's him," she said. "It never was him."

Yasiin Bey recently shared a voice recording on Kanye West's website. In addition to addressing the rumors of his entanglement with the South African government, the rapper announced that he would release an album this year, and that he would retire after the release of that work.

Now a series of mysterious posts have appeared on Bey's Instagram. A couple photos allude to possible collaborations: "Yasiin Bey and Kendrick Lamar;" "Yasiin Bey feat. Ye, Cole, Lupe." The captions are enigmatic as well: "12 more hours, 12 less lonely souls complimentary for those who listen to your hearts," "/- last isn't forever (special empire)," and "No. 2 , the ecstatic."
