Lais’ New Single “Just Us” Is More Soul Than Trap

Listen to the Toronto-based artist new single “Just Us,” off of his forthcoming 114 EP.

Pakistan-born, Toronto-based Lais got his first big break last year when Drake played his song “For You” on OVO Sound Radio. Still living on a high from the shout out, Lais has since been prepping for the release of his debut EP 114, and today he has premiered a new single off that project called “Just Us.”

On the track, Lais attempts to persuade his girl to not give up on them. And although his voice is more soul than it is trap, it's got a “trapsoul” feel with the mixture of sensitivity and vulgarity. It’s just 3am and I miss you, sings Lias as he is upfront about his late night feelings.

"I wrote this song during times where my girl and I were going through it and I got sick of all the back and forth,” Lais told The FADER via email. “It's kind of just saying like regardless of all our issues and all the other bullshit involved in our relationship, we always end up with each other anyways, so put the drama aside and come through cause I miss you."

“Just Us” was produced by CVRE, alongside his other singles, “Cocaine Rain” and “Moon & Stars 2.” The tracks have already gained more than 740K plays on SoundCloud.
