All my scars will heal in time, Izzy Phillips declares in Black Honey's new song. Now he's gone with all my pride. But don't mistake her momentary weakness as a cry for help. The band thrashes vigorously behind her, and she politely requests that everyone leave her alone: Everybody saying what I need to do/ But I haven't got a thing to prove, to prove to you.
"'All My Pride' is about the person I loved who left me at war with myself when he went," Phillips explained to The FADER in an email. "I was forever reliving the scenes in my head like I was under a curse."
"All My Pride" will appear April 29 on the Headspin EP. The band apparently holed up in the Normandy countryside for two weeks to record the project in a barn; pre-order it here.
