J Dilla's The Diary was officially released this year, but the album which saw the legendary producer rap on instrumentals from other beatmakers was actually shelved by MCA Records in 2002. In a new documentary, Mass Appeal sits down with the artists who helped bring The Diary to life nearly 15 years ago, like Snoop Dogg, Bilal, House Shoes, and Karriem Riggins. We already know Dilla brought out the best in others, but this is another fantastic testimonial. And with lots of rare behind-the-scenes footage, it's quite the collection of insights.
