Two people have been killed and up to 17 more injured in a shooting outside a nightclub in Fort Myers, Florida. Police have confirmed that the attack took place shortly after midnight on Sunday, July 24 at Club Blu. BBC News reports that the club was hosting a party for teenagers.
A police statement said injuries sustained in the attack "ranged from minor to life-threatening." In addition to the club, one person suffered a minor injury when shots were fired at a home and a nearby vehicle. The area around Club Blu has been deemed safe, though roads toward the venue have been closed. Fort Myers police say they are "seeking to determine a motive" for the shooting.
Three people have been arrested in connection to the attack which comes just six weeks after a gunman killed 49 people at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida. BBC News has rolling coverage of the story which can be followed for updates.
