A festival in Germany is taking preventative measures in an attempt to protect ticket holders from the threat of a terrorist attack. Wacken Open Air festival takes place between August 4-6 and organizer Thomas Jensen has confirmed that people attending the festival this year will not be able to bring backpacks or bags of any description into the festival. This comes after a series of terror attacks in Germany, including one in which a bomb exploded outside a festival in Ansbach, killing one person and injuring 12 more.
“Due to the recent events we decided that backpacks and all kind of bags are no longer allowed on the festival grounds,” Jensen told Billboard. Iron Maiden will headline the 85,000 capacity festival next month.
