Police brutality can be a contentious subject to tackle in art, but Anchoress go there anyway on their new song "The Fuzz." Taken from their upcoming album Anchoress is Ruining My Life, on "The Fuzz" the Vancouver band's post-hardcore starts to resemble jaded narratives of Greys as they trace a police officer's development from entitled anti-hero to complete sociopath.

Anchoress explained the story to The FADER over email. "'The Fuzz' follows a cop's life from idealistic young recruit to a disillusioned and angry man who has never received the respect he thinks he deserves. He longs for an opportunity to exercise his power over people, and it ends with him drowning in scotch and misery and violence. We wanted to counterpoint the dark lyrics by also making the track the most 'pop' on the album."
