Lil Wayne tried to prevent Nightline from airing portions of an interview where he dismissed the Black Lives Matter movement, and has fired his publicists as a result of the unsuccessful attempt, TMZ has claimed in a new report.

Sources claim that interviewer Linsey Davis's questions about the movement were not pre-approved, and that several emails to ABC from Wayne's camp asking that the segment be removed went unanswered (ABC told TMZ that "nothing was off limits" for the interview's questions). After Wayne's anti-Black Lives Matter clip aired, the rapper allegedly fired his publicists.

Wayne apologized on Wednesday to "anyone who was offended" by his response, which he blamed on Davis for agitating him with questions about his daughter. Yesterday, Vic Mensa criticized Wayne in a Reddit AMA for his "ignorant, isolated, and selfish" comments.
