After a four-year break from the music industry, Amaal Nuux is slowly re-emerging with a string of soulful global pop tunes like "Who Are We?" which is premiering today on The FADER. In a time of such widespread fear and despair, self-knowledge may seem like a luxury, but the song, from the uplifting melodies to the Somali-Canadian singer's vocals, seems to suggest that such awareness is key for any kind of real freedom. The track is produced by Beatchild, f.k.a. Slakah The Beatchild, a Drake-cosigned veteran of Toronto's soul scene.

"There's nothing more liberating than being your true authentic self in a world that's constantly trying to change us all," Amaal told The FADER over email. "I really hope this song can connect with all those who need a reminder that being truly who you are is the greatest gift."
