Chance The Rapper’s Meeting With Illinois Governor Canceled Due To A Tornado In Southern Illinois

Bad weather affects plans to discuss important issues in Chicago.

Chance the Rapper announced earlier this week that he was due to meet with Illinois governor Bruce Rauner to discuss "funding education in Chicago." The meeting was scheduled for today, March 1, but has been canceled due to adverse weather conditions in the area.

The news was tweeted by Chance, who wrote: "Due to the Tornado in southern Illinois, @GovRauner canceled our meeting this morning. My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected."

At least two people have been killed after tornadoes swept across Arkansas, Iowa, and Illinois this week. Illinois state Emergency Management Agency spokeswoman Patti Thompson said one of the victims was killed by an uprooted tree.

Governor Rauner and Chance were due to meet to discuss "important issues affecting the state.” A new date for the meeting has yet to be announced. A representative for Chance the Rapper was not immediately available for comment.
