The competition is open to the public. Video submissions of acts can be sent here, and nine participants will be selected from the pool of entries. The deadline for submissions is July 30.

The winner will be selected from three finalists, and will receive "a unique Artist Development Award." This will include recording time at Paisley Park, a "mentorship session" with members of Prince's former band the New Power Generation, and “additional career development opportunities soon to be announced.”
