In weekend filled with big film releases, Girls Trip came in second making about $30.4 million, following only behind Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated Dunkirk, which came in at $50.5 million. The first weekend earnings for Girls Trip far surpassed the fllm's budget, which was around $19 million.
Girls Trip, which starred Jada Pinkett-Smith, Tiffany Haddish, Queen Latifah, and Regina Hall, follows four women as they head to Essence Fest trying to restore their friendship back to what it was when they were young and in college. Set in New Orleans, the film has been reviewed as "outrageously funny." Watch the trailer below.
