Police Arrest Man On Suspicion Of Murder Following Death At U.K.’s Bestival

Festival organizers say they are “devastated” over the death of a 25-year-old woman.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman at Bestival, the U.K. music festival. Dorset police confirmed that a woman from London was found in a wooded area on the edge of the festival site in the early hours of Monday, September 11.

Officers at the music event were alerted just before 1 a.m. on Monday to reports of concern for her welfare, The Guardian reports. The unnamed woman's family has been informed and an investigation to establish the cause of death is underway. Police have sealed off the area surrounding the festival site at Lulworth Estate as they carry out forensic examinations.

Police added that a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder “to enable officers to conduct an interview under caution to help establish the full circumstances”. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact Dorset police.

Bestival took place between September 7-11 and brought headline performances from Dizzee Rascal, The xx, Pet Shop Boys, and A Tribe Called Quest.
