After rapper Russ shouted out Nicki Minaj for being the incredible emcee that she is, Minaj thanked him before using a short thread to talk about sexism she’s faced in the music industry, and in general. “In any field, women must work TWICE as hard to even get HALF the respect her male counterparts get,” she tweeted.

Minaj went on to talk about how some of her collaborations in the past were only the result of “the greats” being forced to work with her. Of course, Nicki has proven to be one of the greats herself, and has a new T Magazine cover to prove it.

Nicki pulls the crucial question in one of her tweets: “Putting ppl in the same sentence as me after my 10 years of consistent winning. What are you teaching THEM?” Men in any industry are never held to the same standards as women, especially black women, and she goes on to point out an old tweet from Kendrick Lamar to express that sentiment.
