Cardi B flexed her love of political science in a recent GQ profile, and her special appreciation for President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who created Social Security as part of The New Deal in 1935. "He's the real 'Make America Great Again,' because if it wasn't for him, old people wouldn't even get Social Security," Cardi said.
Her thoughts have made their way to another FDR fan, Senator Bernie Sanders, who tweeted his agreement on Wednesday morning. "Cardi B is right," he wrote. "If we are really great we need to strengthen Social Security so that seniors are able to retire with the dignity they deserve."
Bernie and Cardi's ideological alignment was first revealed during the 2016 Democratic primary, when Cardi endorsed "Daddy Bernie" Sanders in May 2016.
