Next month, the indie label Tiny Engines will release Yolk In The Fur, the sophomore full-length by the Brooklyn trio Wild Pink. Album cut "Jewels Drossed In The Runoff," debuting here today, is an easy listen, a midtempo rush of shimmering guitars and swoon-worthy lyrics like "you have a heart like a star." It has a certain cinematic, sentimental quality that recalls the golden age of TV soundtracks; if Seth Cohen was a lovesick teenager in 2018, he would most definitely be into this song.

It makes sense, then, that the track was informed by some of frontman John Ross's own all-time favorite music. "Among the many things that inspired 'Jewels Drossed In The Runoff' is my love for Cocteau Twins," frontman John Ross explained of the song. "It is one of my favorite songs to play live and is partly inspired by growing up in Florida. The song is for all the great people in my life." Listen below.
