Demi Lovato was criticized for joking about the 21 Savage memes that were made after the rapper was detained

Demi Lovato has clarified a now-deleted tweet that resulted in backlash. Twitter users criticized the singer after she said she'd been laughing at memes about 21 Savage. Savage was detained by ICE earlier today and reportedly faces deportation.

ICE officials say the rapper is a U.K. national who entered the U.S. legally in 2005 but "subsequently failed to depart under the terms of his nonimmigrant visa."

Demi Lovato is currently under fire after she stated that 21 Savage memes have been the “best part of the Super Bowl”.

She later clears the misunderstanding; states that she was in fact, talking about the British memes rather than the tweets regarding 21 Savage and deportation. pic.twitter.com/zXSwkRc2Yq
