Palehound, the project of Boston musician Ellen Kempner, has announced her third album, Black Friday. The LP is due out in its entirety on June 7 via Polyvinyl, and today, in anticipation, Kempner is premiering a new cut from the record. It's called "Aaron,' and you can listen to it below.

Following the spaghetti western vigilance of latest single "Killer," this one emanates with persistent compassion, an invitation to embrace transformation of all types. The Robert Kolodny-directed video, premiering here today, illustrates these daily metamorphoses with childlike wonder. In a statement to The FADER, Kempner explained the intention behind the song and its video:

"Aaron is a character that represents my partner, who is trans. It’s not specific to his experience though, the song is about change in relation to our bodies in general. It’s about learning to be comfortable in our skins, whether that means changing our bodies or mindsets. Robert Kolodny directed the video and captured this theme perfectly through portraying physical insecurity as living in an unruly, amorphous body and gradually shedding it."

Later this fall, Kempner will bring Black Friday on the road for a North American tour with Big Thief. Check out the dates for that run, and listen to "Aaron" below.
