Crack Cloud’s video for “The Next Fix” is enrapturing and urgent

One of Canada’s most exciting bands are back with their best video yet.

May 03, 2019

Back in October of 2016, The FADER named Crack Cloud as one of Canada's 12 most promising punk bands. The profile and promise of the Vancouver-via-Alberta collective have only grown since then thanks in part to sensational live performances and an uncompromising aura.

The band's new song and video "The Next Fix" has them moving away from the knotty post-punk of last year's excellent self-titled EP collection and into a looser, funkier sound. It works really well, especially with the stylish music video, which you can watch above. Members of the collective form unique pieces in a visual mood collage depicting the humanity of urban life in the fringes. It's full of heart and empathy without a trace of preachiness."

"We made 'The Next Fix' to remember the people we’ve lost to suicide and drug overdose," Crack Cloud said in an email. "This is Part One of the PAIN OLYMPICS series, made DIY by the Crack Cloud Collective. Modeled around harm reduction philosophy, we operate as a rehabilitative outlet for a revolving cast of artists based out of the West Coast and abroad. By providing asylum for the disenfranchised, we advocate for a culture of healing and greater intersectional connectivity."
