Following the release of his debut project Soire back in 2017, Harlem-based rapper Darion Harris is back with a new single, "Black Kid." On the surface, it's a bouncy track suitable for your 4th of July cookout playlist, but Harris packs the lyrics with a course reflection on his identity. “There’s this feeling as if there’s target on your back when you are a black kid trying to outgrow your circumstances - and there’s no escape from that," Harris wrote in a press release. "I wanted to translate this feeling into the music with straight to the point bars.”

The Kit Moynihan-directed video takes some cues from Childish Gambino's "This Is America" video, bringing that one-take energy to an alley in New York. Check out the charismatic video below, and stay tuned for more from Darion Harris.
