Grime star and staunch Labour supporter Stormzy led a spike in enrollment of young voters in the UK earlier this week, urging his millions of Twitter and Instagram followers to enroll in what he called “the most important election of our generation.” Metro reports that Stormzy’s consistent posting led to a spike in enrollment during the evening, and overall led to 150,000 young people joining the country’s electoral role. While this is undoubtedly due to other people urging voters to enroll too, Stormzy is one of the most visible figures in UK youth culture of late, having headlined Glastonbury earlier this year.

After Stormzy’s enrollment drive, he received a thank you from Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, who wrote on Twitter “A heartfelt thank you for your fantastic effort in getting people to register to vote. Thank you for helping bring about change to the lives of millions.” Legends, as they say, stan for legends.
