Ms. Nina goes searching for what she wants on “La Caprichosa”
The neoperreo artist returns with her first new single since last year’s Perreando por Fuera, llorando por dentro.
Back in 2018, Julyssa Lopez caught up with Ms. Nina at her first-ever U.S. show, describing her music as "hard-hitting and languid at the same time, driven by forceful beats and her laidback vocals." One of the leading lights of neoperreo, a left-field blend of reggaeton and electronic beats that's lurched towards the mainstream over the past couple of years, Ms. Nina has been busy ever since, releasing her mixtape Perreando por Fuera, llorando por dentro last year and racking up wild numbers on streaming platforms. Today she's releasing her first new single since the tape, "La Caprichosa," premiering above. It's every bit as infectious as her past work, propulsive without seemingly trying hard at all.
"My life is always on the road trying to find 'that partner," Ms. Nina wrote in an email to The FADER. "La Caprichosa talks about that, like sometimes life didn’t give you what you want, so you have to find it! And of course I’m so capricious."
